Breakout Rooms in a Teams Meeting

The organizer of the meeting is the only one who has the ability to create and manage breakout rooms.

Things to think about before creating the rooms:

  • Know the number of rooms you want BEFORE you create the rooms.
  • You can only create Breakout rooms 24 hours in advance of the class because they expire after 24 hours.
  • The chat persists after the breakout room is closed for the instructor.
  • You can assign people to a breakout room after they have been created.
